Well, I’m taking an illustration portfolio course for the senior year @ CCAD. My professor asked the students to write a self evaluation, so here it is.
My name is Sophie and I am a senior illustration student and will be graduating in Fall 2014 with illustration degree and art history as my minor. I’m inspired by the surface designs, and mostly poster designs with flat graphics. I mainly work in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Mostly, my work is consisted of the flat geometrical shapes and rough textures for the background or the top of the flat shapes. Before I move on to make those shapes, I take some time, an hr or so, to draw out the basic thumbnails and then go from there. I will say the adjectives that describe my work would be bright, whimsical, shapy, minimalistic, geometrical, warm, and sweet which also describe who I am. I really like to keep my design simple and clean cut so that it will stay geometrical and minimalistic. I want my audiences to find my work clever and whimsical.
I would see myself after I graduate in card companies like Hallmark, or American Greetings; apparel design companies such as Free People, Urban Outfitters, Abercrombie & Fitch. Or I would also like to work as a freelancer to create prints for the posters for bands like Sigur Ros.
If I were to give an elevator Pitch in one short sentence, it would be,
"I am Sophie, I am a whimsical sweet graphic designer who is dreaming to keep creating wonderful art which will amaze the world."
